As an educator, I like to use games in my classroom to practice math skills. Addition Top-It is a great game to practice basic addition skills . You can also play this game anywhere; all you need is a pack of playing cards.

Materials:
Number cards 1 -10  (4 of each)
Use the Ace as a 1 and any picture card as a 10
Players: 2 to 4

Directions:

1. Shuffle the cards. Place the deck number-side down on the playing surface
2. Each player turns over two cards and calls out the sum of the numbers
3. The player with the highest sum wins the round and takes all the cards
4. In case of a tie for the highest sum, each tied player turns over two more cards and calls out the sum of the two cards. 
5. The player with the highest sum then takes all the cards from both plays.
6. The game ends when not enough cards are left for each player to have another turn.
7. The player with the most cards wins.
