Black History month is celebrated in February in most Caribbean countries, and while some question the value and authenticity of predominately black countries choosing to celebrate a ‘month of activities’ to bring our history and heritage to the forefront of national life, celebrations are taking place all over the region. Here in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis plans are gearing up for almost a month of activities to celebrate History and Heritage. Organised by a committee comprising the key stakeholders in supporting, maintaining and promoting our history and heritage, activities will commence with the launch of activities when the Prime Minister The Right Honourable Dr Denzil Douglas will broadcast a message to the nation from the Wesley Methodist Church, Seaton Street, Basseterre, the oldest building in the Federation.
Nevis also celebrates with activities that continue to raise awareness of the heritage and history on that island.
