Present with Mr Hull was Ms Orita Bailey, Board member, who said that the Children’s Home was very pleased to be able to make the donation as the Children’s Home is usually the beneficiary of much support from communities and visitors alike. In this instance, the Children’s Home was able to share with the children of Ghana some of their abundance.

The St. Christopher Children’s Home and Service League provides a place of safety and family surroundings for children whose families are presently unable to care for them and children who are wards of the state, either temporarily or longer term. The home which has been in existence for over sixty years continues to serve the children of St. Kitts with help from Government, the business community and individuals.

The Home is managed by a Board who are all volunteers, and employs an Adminstrator and two House Mothers. Other volunteers also serve including the “Friends of the Children’s Home” who as the name suggests, befriends the children and provides additional support; they help with homework, mentoring, emotional and practical support, outings for birthdays and special occasions.

The Children’s Home has recently gone through a period of renovation and restructure and has been supported by donations from individuals, businesses and fund-raising by volunteers. The Board and staff thank all their kind sponsors and supporters for their time, funds and resources and looks forward to a long and productive partnership in aid of the children of the federation.
