POLICE PROSECUTORS RECEIVE TRAINING

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, (July 30th 2009)
On July 29th 2009, twenty (20) Police Officers and two Crown Counsels from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, attended a one day workshop at the NEMA Headquarters. The workshop, Criminal Advocacy for Prosecutors and other Advocates, was facilitated by Mr. Colin Bobb–Semper, a native of Guyana who resides in England. Mr. Semper has taught many Caribbean law students in London, preparing them for the Bar exams there. He holds a Master of Laws Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, and is therefore eminently qualify to present this topic.
In officially welcoming Mr. Semper and participants of the workshop, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Astona Browne said that, “If the Criminal Justice System is to work, we must ensure that those who are responsible for it are adequately trained and prepared for the task.” She welcomed Mr. Semper on behalf of the Ministry of National Security and the Government of the Federation and reiterated her Ministry’s commitment to training.
Mr. Bobb-Semper was admitted to the local Bar in Nevis on Monday 27th July 2009, and has expressed his willingness to return to the Federation to implement a more extensive training session.
