The Drowning of the Sun

by Orita | July 3rd, 2009

The sun is an important part of the science of nature.  It begins daily in the east of the universe and ends in the west; it is fascinating to watch its daily performance.  Providing it is not overshadowed by the clouds, it begins to make its way westward across the sky, battling with the clouds to avoid their continuous chase to keep it hidden.

In some areas of the universe the sun is the leader.  As you awake in the early morning, you can see it making its way towards the west with such strength that you know where the battle will end.  The sun and the moon are dominants of the planet on which we live.

If you look out of your window at 4:00 a.m., you will see the moon disappearing in the west, having completed its journey.  Look to the east and you will see the sun beginning its journey.

The industrial development of the world has changed the performance of the climate, now known as ‘Climate Change.’  The change came about due to the constant release of pollutants into the atmosphere, including Sulphur Dioxide, generated from the burning of fuels, and Nitrogen Dioxide, which is created by the constant release of emissions from the endless increase of vehicles on the road.

These pollutants have created a situation where the ozone layer which protects the earth from the heat of the sun is getting thinner and the heat of the sun is increasing.  This has created its own problems, where in one area of the world, e.g., the heat of the sun becomes increasingly unbearable, while synonymously causing the sun to evaporate more water, creating more rainfall in another area; Europe, for example.

We have heard about the problems which were caused by heavy rainfall in the United Kingdom in the year 2007.  The same problems have occurred in South America and Asia.  The situation in Europe today is that there is hardly a summer period, even during the months commonly known as the “High Summer Period.”

If you look towards the rising of the sun, you get the impression that the sun will be strong, but as the day continues, heavy rainfall develops, drowning the sun for the rest of the day

When next in London, take a risk and attend the Open Air Theatre, a popular summer performance there.  But be sure to take your raincoat, as rain is always likely; drowning any heat left from the sun’s earlier appearance.

The question here: is the sun drowning?  I wonder.
