Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last six months you would have seen the rioting and other forms of civil disobedience led primarily by youths and young people in the Middle East. While the UK and other western governments were very supportive of this activity in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and now Syria, they have been less quick to recognise any similarities with the situation in the Arab states and events at home.
Is the contagion spreading west? While there has been a lot of mindless lawlessness taking place in the UK, are some of the issues the same? High levels of youth unemployment, lack of social services and programmes, lack of opportunities and hope? Could the scenes in the UK and the Middle East be repeated in St. Kitts-Nevis?
