Adventure at Brimstone Hill Cover

Adventure at Brimstone Hill, the first book in the popular Caribbean Adventure Series is now available on Audio CD, thanks to the generosity of the Matheson Trust Fund of St. Kitts & Nevis.

Author of the series Carol Ottley-Mitchell expressed great pride in the
support being provided by the organisation and the St. Kitts & Nevis
community. “As a writer, I often have moments of doubt about whether my
books are achieving my aim of encouraging young people to read. Receiving
this grant, this show of support, really encourages me to keep writing. It
says loudly and clearly that my contribution is valuable.”

The trust, which was launched on August 24, 2002, was established to
memorialise the life, works and achievements of Mr. D. Lloyd Matheson CBE,
late President Emeritus and former President (1967-1989) of the Brimstone
Hill Fortress National Park Society. Funds collected are used to assist
endeavours in the area of education, historical research and publication.

This particular award falls under one of the main areas of activity of the
trust, namely the promotion of research, documentation, writing and
publishing in history, education and culture as they pertain to St. Kitts
and Nevis.

Adventure at Brimstone Hill tells the story of three children in St. Kitts
who travel into the past and have an adventure at the Brimstone Hill
Fortress. The book takes its young readers on an exciting introduction to
actual events and characters in 17th Century St. Kitts. It entertains while
educating about St. Kitts’ history and culture.

Adventure at Brimstone Hill Audio CD was narrated by On Air personality Dawn
P. Mills and recorded at the studios of radio station WinnFM on St. Kitts,
who generously donated the studio time.  The CDs are available at Brimstone
Hill Fortress National Park, Beauty Essentials in the TDC Mall, Harper’s
Office Depot and other leading book stores in the Federation.
