BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS [SKNIS – September 4, 2011]:

Celebratory events for the 28th Anniversary of Independence will take place under the theme, “Preserving Our Heritage: Self-Respect, Tolerance and Compassion.”

According to the program released by the Independence Celebration Coordinating Committee, the Independence commemoration would include the Minister’s Visit to High Schools, the Prime Minister’s Lecture Series, the Cultural Gala Night, National Heroes Day events, Community Flag Raising and National Honors Announcements, the National Day of Prayer and State Service, the Ceremonial Independence Parade, as well as several athletic and entertainment events. Details of events would be provided in subsequent releases.

The Independence Celebration Committee comprises representatives from Government’s Ministries and Departments, the Security Forces, Religious and Private Sector Institutions.
