Basseterre, St Kitts:
Classic Promotions of Antigua & Barbuda in association with the Rotary Club of Liamuiga (RCL), St. Kitts presents a Series of Ballroom Dancing Events to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of Independence Celebrations of St. Kitts & Nevis (SKN). The Series of Events will be used to showcase performances by the Terpsichorean Ballroom Dance School (TDS) of Antigua & Barbuda in the ten (10) official internationally recognized ballroom dances.
The TDS has been in existence for thirteen (13) years and began as a dance club formed by a number of resident Guyanese who shared a common hobby – dance. Under the leadership of Dance Director, Lelan Drakes, the School has on its register approximately eighty (80) regular students who participate in classes at various levels and are taught the ten (10) official internationally recognized ballroom dances – Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Vienesse Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Tango, Paso Doblé and Samba. The School also teaches social dances – Salsa, Merengue, Line Dance and the ever popular “Oldies”, an informal waltz also known as “three step”. The School has participated in annual regional competitions held in Barbados, Trinidad and Antigua & Barbuda and has been successful in securing and maintaining gold and silver trophies in different categories.
