It has been a long hot summer! With God’s grace, we’ve largely been spared the ravages of the hurricane season, our thoughts and prayers go out to those in the region that were not so fortunate.
It has also been a very busy period here in the Federation; a bi-election in Nevis for the Federal Parliament, several major events on the political scene, the end of UNESCO-led activities to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Abolition of the Atlantic Slave Trade, and Emancipation celebrations are just some of the highlights.

This period is just as busy, with Independence celebrations having taken place in September, preceded by National Heroes Day and the unveiling of a monument to Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw and the inauguration of the Bradshaw Memorial Park in St. Paul’s, as well as the annual Independence Day Parade at Warner Park and several other events.
Tourism Month, usually celebrated this month and heralds the start of the cruise season, got off to an early start with World Tourism Day on the 27th September.
Financial Literacy Month, sponsored and supported by the ECCB throughout the Eastern Caribbean, seeks to educate and raise awareness of the benefits of developing good financial habits. We encourage readers of Kittivisian Life to take advantage of the many opportunities available to learn more about the path to financial independence.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, organised by REACH for Recovery-SKB, also takes place in October. This group of survivors and supporters have a host of activities scheduled, so look out for the pink ribbons.
We introduce a new feature to Kittivisian Life this month with a Dining Out page. As usual, we look forward to your letters and comments. Tell us what you love or hate about the magazine and what you’d like to see featured in it.
