I.T. MONTH ENHANCES EDUCATION, ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION & COMPETITIVENESS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 29, 2008 (SKNIS):

Residents of St. Kitts and Nevis will be updated on issues relevant to information technology when the sector celebrates the first ever Information Technology Month in November.

The month is being held under the theme: “Enhancing Education, Economic Diversification and Competitiveness" and runs from Thursday, October 30 to Thursday, November 27.  Thursday’s activity is the Opening Ceremony which takes place at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium from 10:00 a.m.  Highlights include an address by Deputy Prime Minister Honourable Sam Condor, Minister responsible for Information and Technology.  There will also be and address by Taiwanese Ambassador His Excellency Rong-Chuan Wu.  The Keynote address will be presented by Deputy Governor of the ECCB Mr. Trevor Braithwaite.

Upcoming events include a Church Service on Sunday, November 02, at the AntiochBaptist Church at 9:30 am.  There will also be Career Talks in High Schools, Tech Talk Radio and Television programmes, workshops on various information technology subjects, online games nights and a public lecture.

The general public is invited to take part in the activities, details of which are available in the local press.
