As you may be aware, Jamaica National Heroes Day is celebrated on the third Monday of October each year. This year it was celebrated on Monday, 19 October.
The first Event for the Jamaican Kittitian (JamKit) Association’s celebration of Jamaica National Heroes Day 2009 took the form of a Church Service with the congregation at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, Sandy Point on Sunday, 18 October.
In attendance along with our Association Members were the Honorary Council of Guyana, Mr. Stanford Conway; the first Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, Senor Leonel Lazo; and the Vice President of the Cuba St Kitts Nevis Association, Mr Seidu Joe-Boy.
The second Event will be a Social which will be held on Saturday, 24 October 2009 at the Old Girls School or Anglican Church Hall, Victoria Road, Basseterre starting at 7.00pm.
This Event will have audiovisual and other presentations/displays about our National Heroes, recent Jamaican happenings, traditional Jamaican folk forms, games, etc.
There will be an entrance fee of $5 which will give each person chances in the raffle of cell phones from Digicel. More details on the type(s) of cell phone(s) to come!
Light refreshments will be served.
