LATIN FIESTA AND HOW!!

Caroline Joseph and Eddie Santory Winners of the Salsa Competition

The long anticipated 3rd annual Latin Fiesta took place on Friar’s Bay at the Carambola Restaurant, on Sunday 21st October 2012. The crowds certainly came out to the event and the mood was certainly, Latin with the beats of Salsa, Meringue, and Reggaeton.

This year’s event was held under the theme ‘Brazilian Carnival’ and featured Ritmo Brazil of Brazil and Batukealo of Puerto Rico.

Before the main attraction took to the stage though there was the Salsa competition. The Salsa Competition was judged in two rounds; the first of which participants had to dance the Salsa and in the second round they had to dance the Meringue.

The winning couple was Caroline Joseph a local woman and her Brazillian partner Eddie Santory, they won lunch for two at the Carambola Restaurant, while second place went to Guzman Rodriguez and Alice Plichta.

Following the Salsa Competition, the venue began to heat up with the announcement that Carnival Troupe Fusion Fantasy was launching their 2012-2013 troupe designs. Fusion Fantasy presented ‘Kittitian Roots’ harking back to our original ancestors, the Kalinago better known as the Caribs who lived on these islands.
