CHARLESTOWN, Nevis.
Nevis Housing & Land Development Corporation(NHLDC) will host a Cancer Care Walk on the 14th November in partnership with Pink Lily Breast Cancer Care Nevis(BCCN).According to the Cancer Care walk coordinator, Ms Hazeldine Lewis,the walk, whose proceeds will be donated to Pink Lily, is part of the ongoing series of activities being held to mark 25th anniversary of NHLDC.
She said the walk starts at 6.00 a.m. Officials at NHLDC have called on people of all ages, and all backgrounds to come out in great numbers and support the health walk.
The walk will be flagged off by Founder and Executive Director, Pink Lily Breast Cancer Care Nevis, Lea Parris Cambridge, at Cotton Ground Gazebo. The finishing point is at the Gazebos close to Nevis Cultural Centre.
Participants will be treated to a delicious breakfast after completing the walk.
The walk’s registration fee is EC50 which will include a T shirt, a bottle of water and breakfast.
MS Lewis said when participants get involved, they will be supporting cancer care in Nevis. Founder and Executive Director Pink Lily Lea Parris Cambridge welcomed the initiative and said it was impressive for an institution such as NHLDC to make cancer care a priority during their 25th anniversary celebrations.
She said 30 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Pink Lily while 70 per cent will go to the Ministry of Health. The ministry, she said had pledged to donate the 70 percent to Pink Lily as well.
Registration will be at the Memorial Square on Friday November 6,2009, Thursday November 12 and Friday November 13 at 12.00 noon to 4.30 p.m.
Registration forms are available at NHLDC offices in Bath Plains.
